Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from Colorado Springs patients about cash-pay PT, sessions, and what to expect on day one.
Do I Need a Referral to See a Physical Therapist in Colorado?
No. Colorado is a direct access state, which means you can see a licensed physical therapist without a doctor's referral. Most patients schedule a free discovery call first to talk through their situation and confirm Backcountry PT is the right fit before booking an evaluation.
Where Is Backcountry Physical Therapy Located?
We're at 5815 Mark Dabling Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80919, inside D1 Training right off I-25. The location is easy to reach from downtown Colorado Springs, the north side, and Rockrimmon, with plenty of room to warm up, lift, and rehab in one space.
Do You Take Insurance?
Backcountry PT is cash pay — no insurance required. We provide superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and we accept HSA and FSA payments. Some motor vehicle accident cases are also accepted. This model gives you full one-on-one sessions with your therapist every visit.
What Should I Expect at My First Visit?
Your initial evaluation is a full one-on-one assessment with your physical therapist. We talk through your history, your sport, and your goals, then build a personalized, strength-based plan. You'll leave knowing what's driving your pain and what the next steps look like for getting back to full activity.
Do You Offer Telehealth Appointments?
Yes. Telehealth is available for patients who can't make it into the clinic. It's a good option for follow-ups, programming check-ins, and consultations. For most new patients, an in-person evaluation is the best starting point so we can fully assess movement, strength, and the source of pain.
